Understanding the Subconscious Mind: All You Need To Know

The human mind is an intricate subject, studies extensively by scientists and psychologists. It’s most typically described as a product of two states: the conscious and the subconscious.

Conscious refers to the several thoughts, beliefs, and actions that we’re aware of. For instance, our ability to think rationally and organize our thoughts is part of the conscious mind. Subconscious, on the other hand, is a lot trickier to understand.

What Is The Subconscious Mind?

The subconscious state of mind encapsulates all the thoughts, reactions, and emotions that we’re not automatically aware of. It includes various aspects of our experiences and encounters, keeping a record of everything we soak in along the way.

One way to understand the subconscious mind is by thinking of it as a memory bank that has permanently stored everything you’ve ever felt or experienced. While you may not always immediately recognize the automatic actions and reactions you exhibit, you become aware of them once you start thinking about it.

Take the example of muscle memory, for instance. When you drive to work every day, your hand automatically shifts between gears without you having to think about it consciously. Similarly, when you pick up a guitar after ages, your fingers automatically move toward the right string even if you haven’t played the instrument in a while.

This is the subconscious mind in play. It stores data and retrieves it when needed.

How Can You Access The Subconscious Mind?

So, how do you avail all this information stored in your subconscious? Mind healing techniques such as hypnosis can help you unlock the “hidden” thoughts and feelings safely stored away.  Not only can you dig deep into the depths of your subconscious, but also influence it by making beneficial changes.

Your subconscious holds the answers to why you may be behaving in a particular way. For instance, if you’ve been feeling resentment toward someone or have a particular phobia without really knowing why, you can awaken your subconscious through hypnosis to understand the situation. This form of therapy helps bring underlying issues to light and gives you the chance to reassess the situation.

Similarly, if you wish to adopt certain practices and alter specific behaviors, hypnosis can help you channel your desires to your subconscious mind through a hypnotic suggestion. During the session, your hypnotist will repeat the desired command to you a few times so that it gets “programmed” in your subconscious mind. This hypnotic suggestion will stay in your subconscious mind, allowing you to act on that positive command as you go about your daily activities.
